"Ayurveda teaches us to live in harmony with ourselves, others, and the environment to achieve true well-being."
THE INTELLIGENCE WITHIN
In the history of mankind, we have never been more health conscious nor had more access to health-related information at our fingertips than we do today. Yet despite this, mankind faces a health crisis with obesity, heart disease, diabetes, cancer & mental health, diseases rarely heard of 50 years ago. We live in a time of confusion, overwhelmed with the abundance of conflicting information readily available, information without a filter. There is a gap in our health industry, we have forgotten who we are, this is where Ayurvedic nutrition comes in, it equips you with the knowledge to feel empowered to make better health choices.
The Vedic scriptures tell us
Yatha Brahmande, Tathe Pinde As in the Universe, so in the Human Body
Yatha Pinde, Tathe Brahmande As in the Human Body, so in the Universe
So, to understand the human body, we need to tune in to the cycles of nature around us. Because the universe has a very rhythmic, systematic function for both. This is why Ayurveda is timeless & universal, as long as the earth revolves around the sun & it rotates on its axis, Ayurveda is relevant. It is based on timeless & universal principles that can be applied to evolving times. For generations before us our ancestors understood how the universe works & how it related to our human bodies.
I am here to teach you about how you can use the principles of Ayurveda so you can make more intuitive & informed health choices. Living Ayurvedically means that there are certain rhythms in the universe, seasons that you follow. In our times when we are so used to consuming packaged convenience foods, we rarely ever know the source from where our food comes. Our focus is to gently use the principles of Ayurveda to tune back into our natural intelligence.
A baby in the womb does not know it needs to use its mouth to feed, all nutrition comes via the umbilical cord, but as soon as it is born its natural instinct is to feed from the breast, this is the intelligence that we carry.
WHAT IS AYURVEDA?
Ayurvedic medicine encompasses much more than just providing treatment. Ayurveda is one of the world’s oldest medical systems. Originating in India 5,000 years ago, it relies on a natural and holistic approach to physical, mental and emotional health.
The word “Ayurveda” is derived from Sanskrit and means “science of life.” In Ayurveda, there’s an underlying belief that everything in life is connected. As a result, general health and wellness depend on achieving balance and harmony.
When a person is imbalanced or stressed, they’re likely to develop disease. Ayurveda focuses on implementing lifestyle interventions and natural treatments, therapies and remedies to provide balance among your physical body, mind, spirit and the world around you.
"Just like blood has to flow smoothly and in balance, Ayurveda suggests the energy system in the body also has to flow well and be in balance for us to be healthy.”
Balance is achieved with the help of a healthy diet, restful sleep, regular exercise and stress management. If needed, botanicals, exercise, activities that promote mindfulness and other resources may offer additional support.
Every individual is unique, and Ayurveda defines a person’s specific constitution, or prakriti. According to Ayurveda, these prakriti determine your physical, psychological, behavioral and immunological traits. Different constitutions respond to different treatments, so what works for you might not work for someone else.
